How to Meet a Man at a Conference

by Kaneisha on October 22, 2011

Right now, I’m writing to you all from my hotel room at Blogalicious 2011 in Washington DC, and I just had to come out of my cocoon of book-writing and admissions coaching wilderness to write a post, because I am astounded at the fact that 1) I have never been to a conference that wasn’t [...]

Undecided Book Giveaway

by Kaneisha on May 18, 2011

Y’all know that when I find something I love, I have to tell the world about it! I recently read the book UNDECIDED: How to Ditch the Endless Quest for Perfect and Find the Career–and Life–That’s Right for You by Barbara Kelley and Shannon Kelley. I devoured it in three days and decided that I [...]

Lessons Learned So Far on my Writing Retreat

by Kaneisha on April 30, 2011

I don’t feel like my work is endless, I feel like I have accomplished something everyday, and if I maintain this pace, I should have an entire book by the end of the seven weeks. There are times when I want to try sprinting through the first draft of the book, but I don’t want to tire myself out 3/4 of the way through. I’d rather jog along at a steady pace that feels good and is getting me to where I want to be.

What Does Enough Mean to You?

by Kaneisha on April 15, 2011

Post image for What Does Enough Mean to You?

I had never taken the time to seriously think about this idea before:

Being too picky and having unrealistically high expectations could mean you end up with nothing at all or with a situation far less desirable and delayed at that.

I’m Writing a Book–For Real This Time

by Kaneisha on March 23, 2011

For the last month, I’ve been hinting around about how I need to make some drastic changes in my life so that I can truly pursue writing and on-air hosting. Although all my plans are not 100% settled, I feel ready to share my plans with my nation of crazy girls. First, I’ll tell you [...]

3 Signs You’re Headed for a Spiritual Tsunami

by Kaneisha on March 14, 2011

Spiritual tsunamis occur when two elements in your life are at odds with one another and are causing friction in your consciousness. This friction can be ignored for awhile (just as a tsunami is not a threat when it is out at sea) but it will eventually make it to the surface of your life itself–and by the time it gets there, it will have gained enough momentum and magnitude to do some serious damage.

Why NOT You?

by Kaneisha on March 4, 2011

Post image for Why NOT You?

All too often, when we encounter a story of someone who has “made it,” whether it is a person who has achieved something similar to our career dreams, someone who found and married her perfect partner, or even just someone who won an award (that you didn’t even apply for), our first reaction is to dismiss any possibility of such a lovely thing happening in our own life.

Choose Your Problems Wisely

by Kaneisha on March 3, 2011

In the midst of our venting, I was able to take a step back and realize that, although we were both dealing with challenges at present, they were challenges that we both felt capable of handling, and were a result of choices we had made in the past. The problems we were presently facing had no real influence or power over our futures. If these weren’t the types of problems we wanted, we could simply make different choices going forward, and choose to have new problems…

How to Get Rid of Bad Juju

by Kaneisha on December 2, 2010

As much as I love a self-help/new age book as much as the next dreadlocked self-employed aspiring celebrity in LA, I don’t consider myself to be a very superstitious person. However, for the last month, I have experienced something that I can only describe as bad juju. (For those of you wondering what the heck [...]

Why More School Is Usually Not the Answer

by Kaneisha on November 18, 2010

Despite the fact that I have two Masters degrees and have a company helping people get into graduate school, I believe that oftentimes when we are feeling lost and confused in our lives and careers, wondering what our next step should be, getting more schooling is not the answer.
