JJ Smith, author of Why I Love Men
Dating diva JJ Smith has written a fun, fresh dating book with actionable steps for improving your dating life. Because JJ grew up with lots of brothers and hosts a weekly radio show “Real Talk with JJ and the Fellas,” JJ gives women the type of dating advice that men can actually know about and agree with. I actually read parts of the book out loud to my boyfriend while we drove around San Francisco this summer. There were a few pieces of the book that I do not agree with (like the chapter advocating open marriages for some couples. Don’t do it, ladies!), but overall, JJ’s book is a fantastic guide for women who are looking to learn how to date like a diva. Some of my favorite chapters:
- Chapter 3: Reaching My Beauty Potential: JJ gives herself a fabulous makeover after realizing that she’s been frumping along for years.
- Chapter 6: Unpack Your Baggage: Every woman has experienced heartbreak, disappointment, and disillusionment. JJ encourages us to let our painful pasts go so we can embrace a more hopeful future.
- Chapter 8: Determine Your Relationship Market Value: Ya’ll know I love to connect business principles with dating principles. JJ made me proud with this chapter! The MBA women will love this one.
- Chapter 16: Steer Clear of Unavailable Men: This was my favorite chapter! JJ outlines every type of unavailable man–from the married guys to the players–and how to avoid deluding yourself into thinking the two of you have any future together.
Those are just some of the chapters I really connected with.
