Making Room for Big Blessings

Mr. C helped me move out of my LA apartment yesterday, and I was embarrassed by how much CRAP I have! I’m now relaxing in my delicious bed here in my Boston apartment watching an early morning marathon of Clean Sweep. I’m realizing that it’s time for my own personal clean sweep.

Decluttering your living space is about decluttering your life. It’s about whittling your life down to just the lovely stuff. This is my last year at Harvard, and I want it to be FABULOUS. I want to strengthen my existing friendships, make new friends, and do well in my classes (which are kind of amazing, by the way). Over the next year, I want to create my plan for working for myself, and be ready to execute it when I graduate! Basically, I want a year chock full of blessings! But I’ve got to make room for those blessings. They can’t squeeze into my life around a bunch of commitments, to-do lists, clothes I don’t wear, and magazines I’ve already read. Blessings need room to breathe and bounce about. They’re happy things that grow quickly when nurtured with love and attention.

So I’m going to get rid of stuff, non-essential commitments, and unlovely thoughts EVERYDAY until all that’s left is the good stuff. The great stuff. And then that will be my life.

I’ve long believed that decluttering your life can help you lose weight. I hope that happens too.

Today, I will start with my closet and my magazine “collection”. As Valentino says, “Only wear clothes that make you feel alive.” All clothes that make me feel bored, uncomfortable, or pregnant go straight to the closest thrift store today! All my old magazines go straight to the recycling bin.

What needs decluttering in your life? What are you getting rid of today?

What are you trying to say? Are you calling me fat and unfabulous? Is that why,(pause, tear) it seems at time I am the UNBLESSED! (insert dramatic discovery music)
Well, I’ll be working on my messes. But you know how it always sneaks up on me. Oh, I believe, therefore I am blessed!
Good One!
