I’ve been feeling a bit anxious today about starting work tomorrow. I think, “What if I don’t make it to work on time? What if I’m overdressed? I forgot to bring all my on-boarding paperwork! (This last one is true).” As my friends Damien and Lauryn would say, “Don’t even claim that! Don’t put that negative energy into the universe!” So I will work to put positive energy into the universe, and share those positive thoughts with you as you start your deliciously shortened work week:
I am so grateful to have a fun and interesting marketing internship in Los Angeles, where I am surrounded by fabulous friends, the glitter of Hollywood, and the lovely beaches that energize me. My first day of work will be one where I listen actively to others, show that I am approachable and friendly, and establish myself as eager to learn and ready to work with others to get the job done. This is the first of many successful days and I plan to have an outstanding summer in and outside of my job.

Kaneisha! I’m so sad my phone is dead. I’ll charge it tonight and hopefully we can catch up.
Question – What do you say when you walk up to someone like Norm McDonald?
Also – I need help becoming twitter-literate. For some reason the whole thing freaks me out.
When you walk up to a celebrity, I suggest being at ease, being concise, and being yourself. Know what you want to say, be prepared for rejection and a graceful exit, but hope for the best because I think most people are quite nice and approachable–as long as they think your intentions are good. I said, “I’m Kaneisha. I’m a business student at Harvard, and I want to be a talk show hostess one day. Do you have any advice for me while I’m out here in LA?”
